The Interest and Surcharge on Arrears of Maintenance Ordinance 2003, Ord. No. 18 of 2003 (“the Ordinance”) has come into effect since 1 May 2005. The Ordinance provides for two legislative measures ---- INTEREST and SURCHARGE on arrears of maintenance to address the difficulties encountered by some maintenance payees in collecting maintenance payments and in enforcing maintenance orders.

This website aims to introduce the two legislative measures and provide a computer programme for reference of maintenance payees and payers when they calculate the interest and surcharge, if any, on arrears of maintenance.
